Dumpton School is an independent school sitting in a rural setting within an area of Green Belt. The new building, which contains science classrooms, replaced a previous flat roofed, temporary classroom near to the site.

The Green Belt status of the land required that the new building should be no more visually impactful than the temporary classroom it replaced. Hence the replacement building has a narrow span with shallow slate covered roofs either side of high level clerestorey glazing which maximises natural light and ventilation to the classrooms below.
